I decided to try a new medium: scratchboard. It was fun, and this is my first attempt at the medium. It is done on treated masonite. The process is kinda like etching, where you use an exacto knife or some other tool to scratch away at a layer of india ink to reveal a layer of white clay underneath. It is a really relaxing process, but takes quite a long time. this is 5”x 7” and took me about 20 hours.

Little change of pace, I wanted to do something silly. School has been really busy, so I haven’t had time to post. This is the main character, Totoro from the movie of the same name. The film was made in 1988.

I have cleaned the studio.

I actually have another desk to the left of that one that forms an ‘L’ shape workspace. We added on the little table because I guess the seven foot-long table wasn’t enough.

Not much has changed, but I did get one new thing; my Dad got me an Ott-lite. It’s the creature hanging on the edge of the shelf. It’s full spectrum lighting, so I am no longer stuck mixing colors only at ten in the morning when the light is perfect. Thank you, Dad.

Actually, it has been for a while… well

this was just a fun little project

I made this collage as a placeholder for the season’s drawings in my moleskine.

Acrylic, paper snowflakes (they were fun to make ), gouache, ink, and yarn.
